Nomads hunted down at Tally-Ho!

On a day when the temperature had dropped below 30C, Nomads travelled into Birmingham to play the Veterans, although many of them seemed quite young. Nomads elected to bat, opening with Gardner and Rolfe who both struggled against the opening bowlers, scoring at less than 2 per over. Rolfe then had to retire due to a painful hip. Bastable came in and after looking at the bowling started to accelerate, scoring 3 fours in 3 balls but then pushed a simple catch into the covers. Gardner was out stumped trying to push things along. At the half-way point with the score on only 56, Loxley and Gibson started to punish the new bowlers.Gibson was out having just reached his 50, Clenton joined the growing list of gonads and Scurlock joined Loxley, who scored 86(pb) to bring the total to 184-4. A good recovery by Nomads but on a fast outfield at least 50 under par. Gibson claimed one of the openers in his first over but after that things went down hill.Harvey in particular punished Gibson and Clenton. First change Woolley also went for a lot of runs. Hoddy managed to slow things a bit for 4 overs but Fearon and Kalpesh were also punished severely and WMPV came out easy winners after 22 overs. Their final total was somewhat uncertain due to the vagaries of their 8 year old scorer, who nevertheless should be congratulated on doing a job many adults cannot do.
